Cycling participation in the United States was highest among the highest and lowest income groups, according to an October 2022 survey. 35 percent of U.S. Americans earning under 20,000 U.S. dollars and 38 percent of U.S. Americans earning above 100,000 U.S. dollars cycled at least once in the previous 12 months. Cycling participation was lowest among people who earned between 20,000 and 39,999 U.S. dollars.

The data represents respondents who, in response to the question "In the past 12 months, how many days have you participated in bicycling?", indicated that they had done so at least once.
*For the 2022 edition of the survey, a total of 15,871 adults living in the United States were surveyed. Data on an additional 8,345 youth between the ages of 3 and 17 was collected by surveying respondents on young people living in their household. The survey was carried out in English.
Survey results were weighted for age, gender, region, income, and race and ethnicity to correspond to the 2021 population estimates of the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
