According to the source, 74.3 percent of Poles have used at least one drug or dietary supplement. The number of people consuming dietary supplements has grown tremendously over the decade.
Popularity of dietary supplements in Poland
Dietary supplements are products intended to supplement the diet and provide nutrients that might be missing in a person’s diet. The most popular places where Poles bought their dietary supplements were pharmacies. On the other hand, online stores were used by nearly one in three Polish respondents in 2022. Moreover, over five percent of respondents bought dietary supplements in supermarkets or grocery stores. In 2022, almost one in two respondents bought dietary supplements once a month.
On the other hand, 35.6 percent of Poles bought them once every few months. Furthermore, women use dietary supplements more frequently than men. In 2023, 28 percent of women and 17 percent of men took nutritional supplements daily. Thirty-six percent of women and 46 percent of men took no dietary supplements.
Employment in pharmacies in Poland
Pharmacists are medication experts who ensure safe and effective medication use. In 2022, over 61 thousand people worked in public pharmacies, plant pharmacies and pharmacy outlets in Poland, the most significant percentage of whom were pharmaceutical technicians. In 2021, the pharmaceutical sector employed 26 thousand people, an increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the number of companies in the pharmaceutical sector in Poland increased, reaching 487 entities in 2021.
