Global urban passenger travel demand for transport by train is projected to more than double to 2.3 trillion passenger kilometers by 2050, up from 1.1 trillion passenger kilometers in 2022. In south and southwest Asia urban passenger rail transport demand is expected to grow by 267 percent in the same period.
