In a survey conducted in 2024, just over a third of online shoppers globally reported purchasing alcoholic beverages via physical stores (supermarkets, grocers, convenience stores), while some 11 percent of respondents said their preferred purchasing channel was online marketplaces such as Amazon and Mercado Libre. Another eight percent reported buying alcohol via retailer websites.

The study was conducted in the following 20 territories: United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, India, Indonesia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa.
