Airborne wind energy uses flying devices to generate wind energy at high altitudes. The levelized cost of the nascent renewable technology is forecast to decrease greatly in the next years, dropping by more than half from 2025 to 2030. In 2050, the LCOE of airborne wind energy is forecast to be approximately 15 euros per megawatt-hour. The annual installed capacity of airborne wind energy globally is projected to grow from 0.02 gigawatts in 2025 to 1.4 gigawatts in 2035.
