As of April 2023, among Americans who had heard or read a lot about medication abortion, 72 percent believed it should be legal, while only 19 percent were of the opinion that it should be illegal. On the other hand, among those who had heard or read nothing about medication abortion, 30 percent thought it should be legal, while a 47 percent were unsure. In general, U.S. adults with a higher exposure to information were more likely to support legalization of medication abortion.
