The majority of U.S. consumers in a May 2023 survey were in particular worried about TV show delays or cancellations due to the writers strike, with 39 percent of them stating to be more worried about TV shows than about movies. Nearly one in three respondents were equally worried about TV shows and movies, while 28 percent were not concerned at all.
On May 2, 2023, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike as more than 11,000 writers demanded higher pay, fairer contracts, as well as provisions on AI such as ChatGPT.
