The United States had the strongest government response to modern slavery in the Americas, followed by Canada and Argentina. On the other hand, Venezuela, Suriname, and Cuba had the weakest government responses in the region.

The Global Slavery Index contains data on modern slavery in 160 countries. The government response index measures the national efforts in 176 countries to end modern slavery, looking at legal, policy, and programmatic dimensions. An index score with a maximum of 100 points (best possible response) is given based on 141 indicators.
