The amount of Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) capital in the banking industry in Italy increased overall between 2016 and 2024, albeit with slight fluctuations. It amounted to approximately 182.92 billion euros worth of CET1 capital in the second quarter of 2024, which was the highest value recorded since 2022. Nevertheless, this figure represents a slight decrease compared to 2020 and 2021, where it ranged from 184 billion euros to over 187 billion euros in the first quarter of 2021.
