In 2021/2022, Egypt had a total of 47 water desalination stations, that had a total design capacity of 371.8 million cubic meters a day. Matrouh governate had both the largest number of stations and the largest design capacity, with a score of 19 stations and a capacity of 117.9 million cubic meters of water per day.
