Sonora was the region with the highest installed utility-scale solar photovoltaic capacity in Mexico as of end of 2022. The state, located in the northwest of Mexico, had a solar PV capacity of more than 1.2 gigawatts. The state of Aguascalientes followed with a total photovoltaic capacity of 906 megawatts.
