Walking trips by purpose in Germany 2021

In 2021, Germans made nearly 20.8 billion trips on foot. The largest number of these trips, nine billion, were made for leisure purposes. Over 6.8 billion trips were made on foot by Germans to go shopping. Trips to work and to an education place only ranked third and fourth and accounted for 1.5 and 1.3 billion trips, respectively.
