A 2023 survey across all 27 European Union member states held among people aged 15 years and older found that television was the most used news platform in the week running to the survey among all respondents aged 25 years and above, and was especially popular among those over the age of 55 years. Younger consumers, those between 15 and 24 years of age, preferred social media to television, and also demonstrated the highest consumption of news via messaging apps, video platforms, and podcasts.
