The shipyard Vard Tulcea was the biggest employer in the Tulcea state, hiring over 2,700 employees. They were also the leading company in the shipbuilding industry in Romania in 2022,with a revenue of over 1.21 billion Romanian lei, followed by Șantierul Naval Constanța, with a revenue of 317.1 million Romanian lei. The highest net profit was recorded by Vard Tulcea - 64.1 million Romanian lei, while Damen Shipyards Mangalia suffered a net loss of nearly 84 million Romanian lei.
