A global study held in 2022 found that 27 percent of respondents avoiding climate change news did so because they felt news on the subject was untrustworthy or biased, and the same share avoided climate news as they did not believe there was anything new being reported about it. Other reasons for climate change news avoidance included a negative impact on the respondent's mood, or feeling fatigued by the amount of news on the subject.
