During the financial year 2021, the exports from export-oriented units (EOUs) were valued at 1.2 trillion Indian rupees. The value was expected to rise to around 1.3 trillion in the financial year 2022. EOUs were introduced as a complementary scheme to the Free Trade Zones/ Export Processing Zones (EPZ). They are the units that undertake the export of their entire production of goods and services, except permissible sales, in the domestic tariff areas (DTA).
