While the rate of fund flow varied throughout the 12 months of 2023, the level of funds remained in a constant outflow in the second half of that year. October saw the largest level of fund outflow, with 36 billion U.S. dollars being withdrawn from bond mutual funds. The total outflow was the combined value of taxable bonds, issued by corporations typically having higher yields, and municipal bonds which invest in government debt securities.
