Branch banking usage decreased gradually between 2019 and 2024 but remained above 30 percent among bank account holders in Germany. According to Statista's Consumer Insights, the share of bank account holders who processed banking affairs in person in a branch was 32 percent in the third quarter of 2024, four percentage points lower than in the first half of 2019. In comparison, branch banking usage was significantly higher in the U.S. during the same period, where almost half of all respondents still processed banking matters in person in 2024.
