In France, 4.5 percent of members of parliament are employees, while this socio-professional category represents 26.2 percent (the largest share) of the working population. Similarly, workers account for only 1.4 percent of parliamentary members, compared with 19.1 percent of the working population. By contrast, almost seven out of ten deputies are senior executives, whereas this category accounts for only 21.6 percent of the working population.
