Inbound tourism spending in Spain recovered in 2023, following a sharp drop with the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, spending of inbound tourists on both experiences and things surpassed pre-pandemic levels in 2023. While inbound spending on things was 43.5 percent higher in March 2023 than in 2019, the expenditure of international travelers on experiences recorded a 111.5 percent increase over the same period.

Supplementary notes
The source specifies that "experiences" refers to tourist expenditure on restaurants, amusement and recreational activities, casinos, nightclubs, bars, and other events. Meanwhile, "things" refers to spending on convenience store chains, apparel, cosmetics, sporting goods, jewelry, footwear, bookstores, electronics, toys, and department stores. These definitions exclude the expenditure on transport and accommodation.
All data refer to the expenditure of leisure travelers while in-destination. Figures are in nominal U.S. dollars unadjusted for FX.
