Number of film screenings in Turkey 2000-2022

Between 2000 and 2019, the number of movie screenings in cinemas in Turkey generally increased with some oscillation, peaking in 2019 at nearly 68.4 thousand. After the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the number of movies decreased by more than half. In 2022, over 55 thousand films were screened in the country, reaching pre-pandemic levels again.
