In most of the states of Germany, the number of new buildings authorized by permits in 2023 was higher than the projects in existing buildings. For example, in Berlin, there were roughly 1,490 permits for new building construction, and 1,050 permits for repair, maintenance, or reconstruction works. Bavaria, or Bayern in German, was the state with the highest number of projects authorized for both new and existing buildings.
