In most of the states of Germany, the number of new buildings authorized by permits in 2024 was higher than the projects in existing buildings. However, in Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden--Württemberg, there were more construction projects on existing buildings than on new ones. Bavaria (Bayern in German) was the state with the highest number of projects authorized for both new and existing buildings.
