Bavaria was the state with the highest number of permits in Germany in 2024 authorizing construction work on new and existing buildings. That year, there were approximately 35,620 buildings for whom new construction, or repair and maintenance works had been approved by permits in Bavaria, and 2,040 in Berlin. North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg were the second and third regions with the highest number of permits for residential and non-residential buildings.
