Crowd sizes at The Ashes in Australia 2022

During the 2021/22 Men's Ashes series, the Test match held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was the highest attended Test match of the series, having attracted a crowd of over 125 thousand live spectators across the match. Although the Test at the MCG, which began on the 26th December, only lasted three out of a possible five days, over forty thousand spectators were present at the ground every day. The first day at the MCG was especially well-attended, with a crowd of 57,100 passing through its turnstiles, which made it the largest live crowd on any day during the 2021/22 series. The Test at the MCG also proved popular on television, topping the list of most viewed Test matches of the series on subscription television in Australia, with 520 thousand viewers. In contrast, the Test match held at the Blundstone Arena in Tasmania had the smallest crowds of the series. Across the three days of play in Tasmania, less than 10 thousand spectators watched the action live each day.
