During the financial year 2022, the share of food subsidies and civil supplies was 36 percent, accounting for the highest among all other social sector segments. The segment was followed by rural development, especially the employment guarantee initiative MGNREGS, and the education sector. However, the share of the food subsidies segment was expected to decline in the financial year 2023.
