In the fiscal year of 2023, the U.S. Department of Transport announced funding for nine "mega" projects under the National Infrastructure Project Assistance Program. This program awards nearly 1.2 billion U.S. dollars to infrastructure projects across the country. The most expensive of these will be the Hudson Yards Concrete Casing project as part of the Hudson River Tunnel Project, amounting to around 292.17 million dollars.
The National Infrastructure Project Assistance Program was created by the Biden Infrastructure Investment and Jobs plan. It was designed to fund projects that are too large or complex for traditional funding programs. Highway, bridge, freight, port, passenger rail and public transportation projects were eligible to receive funding through this program.
