The share of companies that have experienced cancellations on their orders for housing construction in Germany peaked in May 2023. While the level of residential order cancellations has been quite high in 2022 and 2023, that percentage reached 17.8 percent in May 2023. One of the reasons why some orders were cancelled in 2022 was the rise of the construction costs in Germany, along with other problems disrupting that construction industry.
