During the financial year 2022, the value of cesses and surcharges in India was estimated to be around 3.4 trillion Indian rupees and 1.31 trillion Indian rupees, respectively. The value of cesses and surcharges have grown tremendously since 2010. Cess and surcharge are collected by the union government in India to raise funds for government operations. Cess is collected from every tax payer and surcharge is an additional tax depending on the taxpayer's income.
