In Portugal, the consumption of cereals decreased in 2020/2021, when it reached 119 kilograms per capita, but increased again in the following harvest season, when 126 kilograms were consumed per person. By 2022/2023, this value increased again to 126.6 kilograms.
Wheat is, undoubtedly, the most consumed cereal, with more than 128 kilograms per capita in 2022/2023. Maize follows, but at an immense distance, not even reaching 13 kilograms per individual. In third place, rye registered an increase in 2021/2022, when it was at 3.4 kilograms per individual.
