In the academic year 2022/23, the number of junior staff employed full-time in universities in Israel amounted to 3,263. This was a slight decrease compared to the previous year, 2021/22. During the period under review, the number of junior staff increased overall, while often fluctuating. During these years, an increase of just over four percent can be observed (compared to the academic year 2018/19). In Israel, junior staff are usually teaching assistants consisting of master's students, doctoral students and external lecturers.
