Vegetables for commercial purpose. This statistic was assembled from several USDA annual statistics reports.
Area for fresh market is area for harvest, including any partially harvested or not harvested because of low prices or other economic factors. Area for processing is area harvested.
* Area, production, and farm value of the following crops, for which regular seasonal estimates are prepared in major producing states: artichokes, asparagus, snap beans, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupes, carrots, cauliflower, celery, sweet corn, cucumbers, garlic, honeydew melons, head lettuce, leaf lettuce, romaine lettuce, onions, green peppers, spinach, tomatoes, and watermelons.
** Area, production, and farm value of the following 8 crops in all states: lima beans, snap beans, carrots, sweet corn, cucumbers (pickles), green peas, spinach, and tomatoes. Production of other vegetables processed included in the fresh market series of estimates.
