Global exports of precious metal waste and scrap amounted to 25 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, a year-over-year drop of 16 percent. This was the second consecutive year of decline in the export value of precious metal scrap, after a decade-high of 36 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. Germany was the largest exporter of precious metals waste and scrap worldwide in 2023.
