Global exports of iron waste and scrap were valued at 52.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 – more than any other scrap metal. That same year, exports of copper waste and scrap exceeded 32 billion U.S. dollars. The United States is the largest exporter of both iron and copper waste and scrap worldwide.
