A survey conducted in September 2021 revealed that consumer preferences for non-grocery shopping channels changed greatly as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with online shopping channels becoming more popular during the pandemic compared to pre-pandemic levels. Online delivery during the pandemic was preferred by over 50 percent of respondents compared to only 27 percent pre-pandemic. Although many consumers preferred to return to in-store shopping after the pandemic, online shopping remained prevalent, indicating a long-term change in consumer purchasing behavior.
