Total refugee population in Peru 2001-2023

The number of refugees residing in Peru increased by 169 refugees (+2.58 percent) compared to the previous year. While the growth is slowing down, with 6,712 refugees, the number of refugees residing is at its peak in the observed period.
Refugee population includes people who are outside of their country of origin for reasons of feared persecution, conflict, generalized violence, or other circumstances that have seriously disturbed public order and, therefore, require international protection. Country or territory of asylum is the country or territory where an asylum claim was filed and granted.
