Total refugee population in Ecuador 2001-2023

The number of refugees residing in Ecuador increased by 2,774 refugees (+4.61 percent) in 2023 in comparison to the previous year. While the number of refugees residing increased significantly in the first phase of the observed period, the increase slowed down in the last years.
Refugee population includes people who are outside of their country of origin for reasons of feared persecution, conflict, generalized violence, or other circumstances that have seriously disturbed public order and, therefore, require international protection. Country or territory of asylum is the country or territory where an asylum claim was filed and granted.
