Total refugee population in El Salvador 2001-2023

The number of refugees residing in El Salvador increased by two refugees (+1.92 percent) in 2023 in comparison to the previous year. While the growth is slowing down, with 106 refugees, the number of refugees residing is at its peak in the observed period.
Refugee population includes people who are outside of their country of origin for reasons of feared persecution, conflict, generalized violence, or other circumstances that have seriously disturbed public order and, therefore, require international protection. Country or territory of asylum is the country or territory where an asylum claim was filed and granted.
