In 2022, the ratio of military expenditure to gross domestic product (GDP) in Brazil decreased by 0.1 percentage points (-8.62 percent) compared to 2021. The ratio thereby reached its lowest value in recent years. Military expenditure figures refer to the amount of money spent on a country's armed forces, including peacekeeping and defense operations, among others. When comparing international figures, there may be some inconsistencies depending on what respective countries consider as military spending.
