According to a survey on tobacco consumption among students by IIPS in 2019, over eight percent of high school students in rural India reported on using smoking tobacco products. In comparison, over four percent of students in urban areas consumed smoking tobacco products. There were higher tobacco users in the rural areas as compared to the urban areas of India.
