Since 2018, the Wilshire 5000 reached its lowest value following the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020 the index dropped to a level of 23,000 points. After reaching the lowest point, the Wilshire 5000 increased during the following years, peaking at over 61,000 points in December 2024. Introduced in 1974, the Wilshire 5000 Index is the oldest broad-based index covering the U.S. market.
