According to this 2023 survey, 33 percent of registered nurses in the United States were satisfied with the time they could spend with their patients, of which 11 percent were extremely close to satisfied. On the other hand, that year, 27 percent of surveyed registered nurses stated not to feel close to the ideal time they would like to spend with patients.

The question was framed as "How much time do you feel that you have to spend with your patients?"
The survey polled more than 800,000 Registered Nurses in the United States from Jan. 5 to Jan. 18, 2023, and received 18,226 completed questionnaires used in this report, of which 11,918 were from staff nurses with the remainder being travel nurses, per diem and other. The margin of error is 1% at a 99% confidence level, and the response rate is 2.5%.
