The construction costs for the nuclear power reactors Vogtle 3 and 4 in the United States were estimated to be around 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2009 when the construction started. However, Georgia Power Company, owner of the largest share of the reactors, saw the construction costs more than double by 2023 when they were estimated at around 24 billion U.S. dollars.
Vogtle 3 was connected to the electricity grid of the U.S. in April 2023 and became one of the five nuclear reactors of the state of Georgia.
