Over the observed period, the Portuguese postal traffic was mainly characterized by delivering letters of correspondence.
In 2021, the volume of advertising letters sent by post amounted to 40 million and in the following year, this commercial literature increased to 41.6 million objects, surpassing editorial mail, which registered almost 41.2 million objects. Parcels were the only type of mail which increased in volume in 2023, to more than 76 million objects.
