Highest grossing Spider-Man movies worldwide 2024, by box office revenue
As of November 2024, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021) held the record as the highest grossing “Spider-Man” movie ever, with a whopping box office revenue of 1.92 billion U.S. dollars. In second and third positions stood "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019) with a global box office revenue of 1.13 billion dollars, and "Spider-Man 3" (2007) with a revenue of about 900 million dollars respectively.
A Spider-Man frenzy
Spider-Man has constantly been one of Marvel’s most lucrative intellectual properties, and the latest installments confirm that trend. On top of garnering the highest global box office revenue, 2021’s “No Way Home” also scored the highest grossing opening weekend. In third place comes “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," the 2023 follow up of animated sensation “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse." Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, “Across the Spider-Verse" almost doubled its predecessor’s box office results, and many moviegoers went to see the movie on the big screen or were planning to.
MCU fatigue?
Since the release of the first “Avengers” movie, the MCU kept dominating the box office with its continuous release of high-budget productions, thus becoming the world’s highest grossing franchise of all time as of 2023. Still, some consumers grew tired of the Marvel formula, so much so that some of the latest Marvel movies under-performed at the box office. However, interest in these kinds of movies is still high among younger consumers.
