In a survey conducted in February 2023, over 21 percent of respondents in Japan were at least somewhat willing to make use of Omiai matchmaking services. At over 50 percent, the majority of respondents did not want to use the service.
Omiai are arranged meetings, often set up by matchmaking agencies. Japanese opting for Omiai are usually doing so with the intention of finding a spouse.
