Argentina's western province of San Juan had the highest number of wildfires across the country in 2022, with a total of 1,876. This was followed by the state of Formosa, at some 1,000 fires. That year, Formosa saw the fourth-largest area affected by forest fires in the South American country. Meanwhile, in the state of Buenos Aires the number of wildfires that year amounted to a total of two.
