In 2022, Argentina saw a total area of approximately 1.4 million hectares affected by wildfires. This represented an increase of nearly 88 percent in comparison to the previous year. During the period in consideration, the total extent struck by forest fires in the South American country reached a record high of some 1.6 million hectares in 2017. Argentina's total number of wildfires surpassed 7,100 in 2022.
