In 2021, the disposal and release of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) carcinogens by facilities in the United States was reported by the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) database. This data shows the amount of on-site and off-site disposal or other releases for some of the most controversial and well-known OSHA carcinogens. Of the selected OSHA carcinogens, formaldehyde had the highest reported total on- and off-site disposal or other releases, with around 18.5 million pounds released in 2021. This was followed by lead, asbestos, acrylonitrile, and benzene. It is important to keep in mind that these chemicals can cause serious health issues, and their disposal should be closely monitored to prevent further harm to the environment and human health.
