Public investment in storage and transportation sector in Egypt 2010-2022

In 2021/2022, public investment in the storage and transportation industry aggregated around 184.2 billion Egyptian pounds (5.96 billion U.S. dollars). This represented an increase from close to 128.3 billion Egyptian pounds (4.15 billion U.S. dollars) in the year before. Furthermore, public investment in the sector increased significantly in 2017/2018 from almost 35.73 billion (1.16 billion U.S. dollars) to 75.31 billion Egyptian pounds (2.44 billion U.S. dollars).

It is worth noting that the Egyptian currency faced devaluation in late 2016, moving the exchange rate from almost nine Egyptian pounds per U.S. dollar to 13 per U.S. dollar. In 2022, the Egyptian pound dropped in value again several times before settling at nearly 30.9 per U.S. dollar as of late May 2023.
