In 2022, the number of foreign guests in tourist hotels in Jerusalem in Israel amounted to 673,600, which was a significant tenfold increase compared to the previous year. During most of the observed period, the number of foreign guests gradually increased, while in 2020 and 2021 a significant downward trend began. This decline occurred due to the introduction of tourism restrictions imposed by the Israeli government following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in March of 2020.
